A replacement that fixes the real cause
Diagnosis before dismantling
We check whether the fault sits in the clutch or elsewhere in the system.
Related parts are assessed
Hydraulics, release parts and the flywheel are checked while access is open.
Practical help with non-drivable cars
Collection and delivery can be arranged if the vehicle is not fit to drive.
When a clutch problem needs a closer look
A slipping clutch, a high biting point, judder, difficult gear selection, or a strange pedal feel can make every journey feel like hard work. The trick is not assuming the clutch itself is always to blame. Before replacement, we check whether the fault is down to normal clutch wear or whether hydraulic parts, cables, gearbox issues, or a dual-mass flywheel are really behind the symptoms. That matters because the right fix saves you paying for the wrong parts and helps the repair last.

What is checked while the gearbox is out
Once the repair is confirmed, we move the job through our workshop process so the work can be done with the right access and control. Depending on what we find, that can include the clutch plate, pressure plate, release bearing, concentric slave cylinder, and flywheel. We assess the surrounding components while everything is apart, fit the required parts correctly, and carry out post-repair checks before handover. If the car is not sensible to drive, collection and delivery can be arranged through recovery partners from £2.25 per mile.
Frequently asked questions
Does a slipping clutch always mean full replacement?
Not always. Slip can point to a worn clutch, but poor pedal feel, hard shifting or odd engagement can also come from hydraulic faults, linkage issues or flywheel trouble. We check the cause first so the recommendation matches the actual fault.
Should the flywheel be replaced at the same time?
That depends on the condition and design of the vehicle. If we find wear, heat damage or dual-mass flywheel problems once the gearbox is removed, we explain what we have found and why replacing it then may save labour and repeat work later.
Can you collect a car that is difficult to drive?
Yes, that can be arranged through recovery partners if the clutch fault makes the car awkward or unsafe to use. We explain the collection route and pricing, which starts from £2.25 per mile, before anything is booked in.
