James saved the day after I broke down during the heatwave with no idea what to do. Not only was he incredibly reassuring, his knowledge and understanding of mechanics was immediately demonstrated by swift his diagnosis of the issue. I am no stranger to car problems as my car is very naughty and I have tendered to encounter to two distinct types of mechanic, one that will tell me what the issue is up front as soon as they think they know and how much it could cost, and another that tells me what they have done to fix the ‘problem’ whilst handing me an extortionate itemised invoice with added jobs never mentioned before.
On that day, James looked at the car which was smoking like hot coals and seemed ripe for the scrap, identified the issue and after telling me what the problem was and the likely cost, nipped off to get a part, fixed my car and had me back on the road within an hour and a half after staying with me whilst I tested it out for a bit until he knew I was safe. I am still grateful, as that particular break-down had felt like the final nail in the coffin of a rubbish week and I have no doubt there are businesses that would have made the most of my feeling so desperate and having a limited understanding of mechanics.
